Some of my happiest memories are wrapped up in children's books—first as a little girl being read to by my parents, and later reading bedtime stories
to my own children. Those moments stayed with me long after the books were closed. I've always loved stories, laughter, and the magic of community theatre, so when the idea for Julia Peaches and the Stage Scaries came to me, I knew it was one I had to tell and create that same kind of memory for other families.When my illustrator finished reading the story, she told me,

“I could picture my dad reading this to
me every night when I was little.”

I can't imagine a greater compliment. If Julia Peaches becomes part of those quiet moments between children and the people who love them, then it has done exactly what I hoped it would do.
